These ‘POPULISTS’. These men (as they invariably are) of ‘the people’, who claim to single-handedly and single-mindedly champion, speak for, and fight on the side of, ‘the people’.
Who tell ‘the people’ whatever they think they most want to hear, totally irrespective of any genuine intention to make good on their protestations and promises.
Whose priority is never, in actual fact, the interests of ‘the people’, but of the big five ‘P’s of Populism : their own personal Power, Popularity, Prestige, Privileges and Profit.
Right now, they’re a particularly, and dangerously, recurrent plague. If only we could develop an effective worldwide antidote against them, followed up with compulsory regular booster doses …
